This is a new very wide AC line operational range Switching Power Supply (SMPS) developed especially for high-power professional amplifiers. OOps it really works from 80Vac up to 300Vac with nearly 11KW peak charging capability...  ;-)
It has built-in Active Power Factor Correction (APFC) with typical 
PF > 0.93 in the whole operational range. The circuitry allows unusual high AC over-voltage withstanding cabalility so the power supply survives accidental 400Vac connection* or sustained transient voltages of 800Vdc or 550Vac without the need of service (!)



        The applied topology is a new kind of single stage serial-parallel resonant converter operated at high frequency  >200KHz. Digital control method has been developed for maintain the optimal operational parameters of the converter which provides soft-switching for all active devices. Due to the advanced control method the ZVS/ZCS soft commutation sequences are maintained across all load and AC line ranges, even during possible frequent overload periods.
Without truly soft commutation sequences it would not be possible to reach such high conversion efficiency (typically above 94%) at the given switching frequency even using the latest power devices. Lack of primary side bulky energy strorage has some negative effect on the output DC ripple however it is not so significant in the target application. Another advantage is that
the conventional "soft starter" hardware which is typically required for charging current limitation at the moment of AC line connection has been eliminated further improved the reliability and reduce size.
